lovely way to present each base – though that storage would be killer for me :-) |

Stunningly beautiful bases (although a bit… different)! And very nicely painted miniatures. Inspirational! |

They look absolutely beautiful! Just wondering about doctrine, would you want the guns to recoil so close to trees? And being there, aren't they especially vulnerable to counter battery fire and/or actual fire? I suppose they could be firing INTO the woods, but wouldn't the train have some difficulty navigating that forested space? |

Very nice. Where did you get or how did you make those trees? |

Excellent. What rules are being used with these figures? |

Thanks gents. Mr Flashman, I have zero tech knowledge about artillery placement. I just did what looked good to me. Rallynow, Trees are cheap Chinese crapola bulk trees that I bought off Ebay. There are hundreds of sellers on the Model RR Ebay page. However, these are not stock, out of the box. I stained the trunks with a black ink/Iso Alcohol, mix to get that really good grayish trunk color. I spayed painted a couple of colors on the stock green "leaves". I used light green and yellow floral spray paints here. Just a quick blast here and there to break up the drab green. While the paint was wet, I sprinkled some lighter colored flock, from above, onto each tree. This gives it that new growth look. This is the key. By using different colored fine flocks, you can really make these cheap trees pop. Mix in reds, golds and yellows and you'll see the difference. Sounds like a lot of work, but it's not. Assembly line type set up and you can knock out dozens in less than an hour. One good tip is too use cheap salt and pepper shakers for the fine flock. Buy clear glass ones, so that you can see the colors. 2 for a buck in the Dollars stores. Games poet….sorry, I am not a game player. These are simply for my own collection. |

At least all those artillerymen will be fighting in the shade. |

Yeah, I was going to say nice work but you'll have Ents on your AWI table but since they are only gaming pieces they work just fine. Great job on the trees. |

Bill – the headgear says early war, but not Saratoga; the gunners in Burgoyne's army are known to have worn the same hat-cap as the infantry (this was recorded by the artist von Germann, who was there). Still nice little vignettes, but probably more suited to the Bston, New York and Philadelphia campaigns. |

Bren, How about for Continental Artillery? Passable? Yes, I have several Perry British artillery teams with the Saratoga hats on the workbench now. I had asked about the dragrope men and have them also.

Yes, I think they could pass as Continentals – with recently captured guns! I do recall you asking about Saratoga gunners etc, I got the idea from your original post here that these were them – I didn't realise you had more than one set of figures in hand. |

I have to confess that I thought that they were Continentals all along. |
Supercilius Maximus | 09 Oct 2015 4:23 p.m. PST |
Other than a brief period where some Continental gunners wore black coats, it would have been difficult to tell them apart. |
