I'm pondering an Irish Confederate army for DBA-RRR.

Overall, I like the look of the Khurasan figures. However, I rather detest spaghetti pikes and would rather not spend the time clipping and drilling all the pike figures to add wire ones.

Are Old Glory 15s, or any other, pikemen compatible with the Khurasan Irish?

As far as I know the Khurasan figures are cast open handed.

Yes open handed and splendid figures. Sizewise they perfectly match Essex and are fine with QRF and some Matchlock they are a very good fit with their Highlanders for example.

I don't have any OG ECW so cannot answer that.

If they're open handed, then I don't need to worry about mixing in other figures.

The photos I saw looked like they could have been cast in place. And years ago I got some of Khurasan's Swiss Halberdiers whose polearms were downright vermicelli and had to be swapped out for functional weapons.

They supply them with seperate cast pikes that are quite robust but of course you could use steel wire without a problem.

If you are getting cavalry the Khurasan Covenanter lancers will do quite well as Irish lancers too.

The command stand here are Khurasan the rest are Essex.

That's great to know that the mile-long-cabers aren't cast on!

And poking at the range, yes it seemed like the Lancers would work for the good guys too.

I might mix in some Essex for variety (excepting the Essex cast-on pikers of course).

On a related note, which company makes a nice demi-culverin that best fits on a 40x40mm base?

QRF have one I think. Nice guns too.

Thanks!

Just placed an order with Khurasan & QRF.

The QRF Demi-Culverins arrived today. They are sweet models and fit nicely on a 40mm base!

Khurasan is currently slogging through several score of orders, may be awhile before I see my troops.

Yeah their old FK ECW range has a lot going for it. I'll be getting some myself once Brent Oman releases the PL ECW rules.

I finally have all of the figures on hand for this project. Once I finish making brass pikes to replace the cast metal ones, they'll be ready for painting.

I love the Khurasan figures, and did wind up with a few others.

I like the Khurasan gun as well as the QRF one, both fit on a 40mm base. I'll use 2 of each.

I picked up some odds and ends of Peter Pig figures to round out some types.

The PP personality pack with Priest, Dog, and mounted Ensign mix great. The horse is smaller than Khurasan's, but I'm fine with horses in different sizes.

The PP Scots artillery crew mix in fine.

The PP Highlander Command are notably shorter, but their heads don't look like they are different species than Khurasans. I'll mix these in and just put a shim under the PP bases so they're not too much shorter than average.
