"The green service uniform has finally been laid to rest after 61 years of approved wear.

As of Oct. 1, the "Green Class As" are no longer permitted for wear.

From 1902 through World War II soldiers wore an olive and/or khaki/tan combination of some sort. But then the Army wanted a sharp, classic and dignified look to distinguish soldiers in a postwar era…"

I've had people ask me if I was in the Air Force when I've worn my Dress Blues. New century and someone needs to leave a mark.

I've always thought we should go back to the WWII dress uniform….but that's just me…

yup. Gotta leave their mark. I remember Zumwalt doing away with the Cracker Jacks and putting us in shirts/ties/jackets just like the other services. I hated it as did many.

I hated the Johnny Carson Suit. I would have preferred something more military:

But minus the cross-strap. Never saw the point of that thing, if you aren't carrying a sidearm.

Never minded the "Green Class As" (probably because that's what I wore). The "Blue Class As" are Ok, I guess (at least it has some history, going back to the 1800s). But I'll never get used to the beret. Yeah, I know, its easier to maintain vs the old cover. But it just doesn't look right…

Yeah, but that stand-up collar would get real old, real fast…

I personally love the Blues. I also enjoy educating the general population the history and that the Army has had a blue uniform since the founding of the US Army.

So it is not a "new" uniformjust an updated use.

I can't say I liked the looks of the Green Suit. Looked too much like a suit until you added all the ribbons to it.

I like the Civil War blues!
