Imagine yourself living in a Post Apocalyptic Earth and meeting distant cousins that looked like these:

Or perhaps looking more like a Beluga with fingers? Or cephalopod-like, but with some cartilage instead of a full skeleton?

Aside from hover-chairs like these next ones, what else do you think they would need to move about in our Earth gravity?

Do you think maybe a breathing device of some sort? Or even a fully-encased bubble with clamps for arms, to avoid injury from our air pressure?

Robert Heinlein wrote a short story called, "We Also Walk Dogs" in which a near future 'can-do' company is given the job of arranging for high & low gravity aliens to meet on earth in the comfort of the gravitational fields they are used to.

Not a lot of detail but the solutions offered are intriguing.

This is weird, but interesting:

Read "The Integral Trees" and "The Smoke Ring" by Larry Niven. We keep the legs they just evolve into another pair of arms and hands.

We keep the legs they just evolve into another pair of arms and hands.

We become Monkeys? grin

Lol. Yes. We become WAR Monkeys!

Check out the image I just found:

Looks like he/she/it doesn't need anything other that the mind to get things done.

I'd hit it.

I see these everyday the Populous Indiginai here are big round sleek and needing all forms of gravitational support to get around, and that's just the government workers, talk about evolving. I feel like long pig around them ;/
You want to see evolution in progress its happening right here where I live, one correlation to 'super sizing and body weakening is a high drop in higher brain function too.
Cheers see ya through the window, nice topic Caribe

GhostofRebecaBlack: Smokey has first dibs on that/those. Things get real _sparse_ in the DH, 'lessen one of the guards takes a "shine" to ya!

I am not liking it. In all the pictures we evolve and lose our junk!

CorroPredo04 Oct 2015 8:34 a.m. PST

I've run across several people who already look like the 50,000 year image……

Cacique Caribe04 Oct 2015 12:01 p.m. PST

Some people are evolving their anatomy faster than others.

I guess they no longer have to worry about using their legs.

^^ Though they'd still steal your bicycle, just on principle… ;-)

"Anatomy of an Urban Thug"

That's the future- The Jetsons told me so.

I'd honestly expect prehensile feet on long-term low-gee populations.
