Subject says it all. My google-fu is weak. I'm trying to start an army and want to maximize poses. |

Depends on your definition of compatible. I mix half a dozen companies in my Crusader armies. Perry is small and slight. Crusader and Artizan are a bit thicker. Old Glory, Magister, Gripping Beast are right in the middle. Musketeer(footsore) and Black Tree Design are a bit bigger/taller. FireForge is slight, but take up a lot of space with their active poses. |

I am goint to assume it is 28mm. Given that he is talking about early Crusades give Fireforge a miss as they are distinctly later Crusades and would not fit with early period. Most of early (1st) Crusaders are Crusader and Gripping Beast with Conquest plastics thrown in as well. My late Crusader army is mostly Fireforge and very different. |

Check out Outpost cavalry really nice figures that will mix with Essex size types. Forget the Outpost infantry the are mainly giants. That said were I starting out I'd go Legio Heroica for the lot and they have a sale on now. |

Legio Heroica are of course incredible figures but many of them are too late for what i'm doing--Antioch, battle of Ager Sanguinis. |

Khurasan and splintered light mix well. |

Old Glory are worth a look. The 1st Crusade range has some rebranded from some of their 'Dark Ages' ranges but others look designed for the period. |
