This comes from Benno's forum link I like. Some moaning around duplication of command poses but I can use thsoe for my HaT lancers, and with head swaps for my HaT chasseurs, and the standard can be replaced with another lance. Nice to see IMHO. |

not putting "1/72" in the post title is very cruel to all us 28mm people who, for a moment there, had got very excited! |

Did not Warlord promise to redo their new Chasseurs a Cheval as such? Horses and riders' bodies the same. Right arm for a lance, well in front rank anyway, and just new heads……..double the sales! |

Sorry LH. I guess that was silly of me, so my apologies. I tend to think o the plastics as "my" 1/72, forgetting you 28mm guys. |

Marc, Thanks for the posting. Looks like Italeri product. Three horse poses instead of the HaT substandard 2 poses. I've been wondering for years how I'm going to convert existing products to create lancer units. All I had to do was wait! |

PSR mentions an intended release by Waterloo 1815, scheduled for summer, 2015. The site you linked appeared to show actual sprue of figs. Any idea when they will become available? |

Not silly Marc, as Deadhead says, Warlord have been talking for a while of a plastic lancer set so I presumed, in my over-eagerness, that they had finally been released! |

Sorry, no. They are pics of the actual sprue, but when I translated the Italian it was just discussion. It appears that they were seen at a show in Milan, so here's hoping for soon |

Thanks, Marc. They look nice figures: 'must haves'. |

No problem – I was impressed by the figures, but more so by the fact I beat my good internet friend, Armand, to the punch on these. |

A considerable improvement on Hat's efforts, which I shall retire, unpainted, in favour of these. 1/72nd plastics just get better and better. Still waiting for the definitive Bardin-uniformed Line Infantry, Line Chasseurs a Cheval and Foot Artillery …. |

By foot artillery, do you mean Bardin uniformed, rather than teh excellent Zvezda set for the early period? What about the mini set from Zvezda, I have not checked that out yet (a trip to PSR maybe needed). Line chasseurs – well, I was looking at these lancers and thinking head swaps and add on swords. I have teh Italeri set, but they are a tad big (although I might mount them on better horses, from the hussar set). Line infantry, well, I am waiting to see if the HaT set appear. They will need officers from the Zvezda mini set, but if the figures are good… I do have the Italeri giants, and wonder if head swaps would improve them (at least get rid of the no neck look). But I agree they are not definitive. |

Marc, To clarify – yes these lancers could no doubt be converted to chasseurs, but there were a lot of chasseur regiments present at Waterloo, and, all things being equal, I'd rather have a Bardin-uniformed set of chasseurs than convert lots of these lancers. The Italeri chasseurs are good, bar the horse cloth issue, but pre-1808 uniforms. The HaT chasseurs are workmanlike, but probably best for 1808-1812. Artillery. I recently acquired the Zvezda foot artillery. This set, IMHO, is all that an artillery set could and should be. If you don't mind them in full dress and full kit, they are a great set for the 1808-1812 period. The Zvezda mini Bardin- uniformed set by comparison, also in full rig, by the way, are not such good value for money, don't feature the train, and the poses look a little stiff. They are the best option for Bardin uniforms, given the only alternative is the ancient Airfix set. For wargaming I think the HaT Marching Action Command format is essential. Apparently, and, to my mind, unbelievably, HaT lost the masters for the Bardin uniformed Infantry Command and, so, have scratched these. Not that I'd bring this up on the HaT forum (they can be an amazingly prickly clique in defence of HaT). So, the best hope is probably for the HaT marching infantry, which I expect will be superb, with the Zvezda command. |

Yes, all valid points (esp re the Zvezda artillery "old style" – sublime). I agree with the HaT chasseur comments, I have been tempted to head swap them and mount them on different horses, to see if that adds any life. But yes, as the workhorse of teh army, they are sadly ignored. I guess having two sets we shouldn't complain, but it would be nicer if they were really good sets… It is a shame the mould has been lost – when one realises the stages involved I gues we are lucky more are not lost. Unfortunately, the cost of remaking it is probably too high, at least in the short term. My hope is that the French sell well and H is encouraged to make more. The rumours continue to suggest these are next in line after the forthcoming releases – I can only hope. |
