All: I have been following developments and discussion on this topic for some time but, beyond all the opinions about business policies, etc., I have one question. Anyone have first-hand knowledge the quality of the casts now? I am thinking of filling out some of my Ancient Biblical armies, and some other eras. All original Perry figures. Are the ones being sold now up to the original casts or is there visible deterioration of crispness, "flattening" of figures, flash and so forth due to aging molds? Have the lines now on offer been remastered? Comments welcome, TIA |

Can't really remember the originals but everything I have ever gotten from there has been fine no problems. The only trouble is now Foundry/Castingroom are a little expensive, they have stopped their buy 16 packs and get 8 more free with free shipping a month or two ago. But otherwise figures have always been good the odd pack had some flashing but another of the same didn't. The lines etc. have been up to snuff, personally I would buy again if the price was right. |

I love Foundry. But their pricing has been very disappointing. $18 USD for six figures is too much. |

In general they are still cast to a high standard. I've had a few horse figures with a bit of flash but nothing that a normal clean up with a sharp blade can't handle. One thing I know is that they'll replace anything that isn't up to standard. They would have thousands of moulds at various stages of their lifeline, so I would recommend just asking them about the packs you're interested in. |

Yep can't understand how some of these casting room packs are 6 figs for the same price – when the 8 figure packs of traditional foundry are nicer sculpts (IMHO) and same price |

I wish they would sell them like they did before. If you buy three of the same you get the fourth free!!!!!!!!!! Mike Adams |

They started things back up with discounts galore. Then they seem to have taken a serious hit in their profits under the new management and have reverted to stiff pricing. Oh well. |

And have probably seen a big drop in sales. They can't seem to win. |

Their casting rooms Napoleonics are in 8 per pack, at least the ones I've looked at--mostly French. |

All their stuff is seriously overpriced. In Ancients there are now other manufacturers like 1st Corps, Aventine, even Footsore, who make figures just as good but cheaper – and often with unit discounts too. |

Not sure if I read your post correctly, but the casting room figures are not Perry sculpts. They are by different artists, not quite as good as Perrys'. That being said they are not too bad. I have bought some and yes their quality of casting is good |

I used to use foundry but have discovered 1stCorps as 1ngram mentioned, they are great just as good and even better cheaper. |

First thing to say is the figures are heroic 28mm scale, so for example their Persians (which I am about to start painting) match the Saleh persians but not the original persians. Flashing, it's a bit pot luck, I have had some poor casts, but most of the time they just have a little flash. Sculpt quality is variable, not quite up to Perrys Foundry figures, but I have just bought some Normans and Saxons I think sculpted by Mr Bickley and they are very very nice. Some of the infantry packs only have six figures, so they are at the top end of the price range, which if you compare to Aventine, say, who produce some excellent figures for almost half the price, it's a bit cheeky. A trip to foundry is well worth it though, and they sell their packs £10.00 GBP per blister and all of the ranges are on show. |

To answer the Original question: I have severall of the (older) Perry biblicals (Trojans), and have SEEN (not buying) the newer sculpts at a show. I think the Perry sculpts are much better, and with 8 a pack, 25% cheaper compared to the new miniatures. The newer sculpts are also bigger ("heroic"?) then the Perry sculpts. If you want more miniatures, Newline has a great line of biblicals, which are very much the same size of the older Perry range. I hope this helps you out. |

I got some of the Hittites. Like them as different costume and helmets allow nice variety in army. Bigger than perrys but fine different units or carefully blended in. |

All: Not sure if I read your post correctly, but the casting room figures are not Perry sculpts. They are by different artists, not quite as good as Perrys'. Thanks, on closer inspection of the images at CR I saw the figures are different from earlier (eg Hittites) Perry and I see that the Renaissance (CR) are the later [heroic] range depicted in the "Condottiere" rule book. Looking at the wargamesfactory.com site I see the Biblicals and Rennaisance are the "old" Perry work. I can justify the odd pack, maybe collection, to complete some units. I have opposing armies for both those periods and was left in the lurch, short of figures/units, by the "Foundry limbo" of a few years ago. If the casting quality is as described here I will slowly add to my extant armies. Thank you all for your comments and time… |

I bought some Casting Room Normans a few months ago and was pleased with the quality. |
