I'm researching and investigating a project that I've been sitting on for far too long, and need some help.

I am looking for sources for 28mm (or there abouts) figs suitable for Comanche Indians, and any source material to act as painting guides for figs, clothing, equipment, weapons, etc. I've been searching the net, but am coming up with mixed results and inaccuracies.

Any suggestions for 28mm figs and/or books are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

irishserb

Warlord sells the old Conquest line, very nice figure though a bit slender.
They fit well with Foundrys generic plains indian line
Dixon also has a generic line but I can't remember how well they fit with the above two.

Warlord Games sells the Conquest 28mm Comanches; they are excellent figures IMO & include mounted & dismounted versions of each individual. The Osprey paperback "Warrior #75: Comanche 1800-74" is useful for clothing, equipment & an overview of their 19th Century history.

For a great book about the Comanches & Quanah Parker, I recommend "Empire of the Summer Moon" by S.C. Gwynne.

The Conquest Comanches are wonderful.

In addition to "Empire of the Summer Moon", I'd also recommend

"The Comanches, Lords of the South Plains" by Ernest Wallace & Adamson Hoebel

"Ranald S. Mackenzie on the Texas Frontier" by Ernest Wallace

"The Buffalo War" by James L. Haley

There's a short review of the Mackenzie book on my blog:

I think Dixon has a few as well.

Another vote for the Conquest Comanches. (that sounds like a football team)

This is awesome. Read reviews and the books are ordered And I've looked at the figs, the Conquest figs are really nice, so I need to hammer out how many figs that I need. Love the idea of the mounted and dismounted versions being available.

Many thanks, you guys have been great!

Empire of the Summer Moon was an excellent book. It'll give you a great understanding of the Comanche.
