Don't use palm trees, the leaves are all wrong. Use something with a spray of leaves at the end of a stalk for each branch, arranged in a several rings at the top of the tree. I'd be tempted to suggest using many thin wires for the trunk, splayed out at the top and then leaves glued at the ends. but then wrap the trunk so you see a fattish cylinder. |

The floral department of your local craft store is your friend. Look at the plastic plants, the naturals are usually too brittle. Also, check aquarium decor areas of pet stores. There is – or was – an actual model of a papaya tree on the market a few years ago. Perhaps still is. But not the plantation version you have in your image. More of a wild tree. |

Looks a bit like the old GW plastic tree kit – the one that came with umbrella like bunches of leaves and separate lengths of 'trunk'. If they are still around that could be the donor of the needed leaf clumps for your trees. |

Cheers for the help. Looks like there are two producers of aquarium plants: Zoo Med/Betta Plants and Komodo. Komodo come in three sizes, large, medium and small.
I'll probabaly go with the Komodo small |
