Any volunteers? It's time for the annual delousing of the bunks… |

This is an anomaly that needs addressing. |

I am sure the usual suspects are more than willing to step up, but why do they have to bear the brunt? Come on people! Let them take a vacation! |

"Any volunteers? It's time for the annual delousing of the bunks…" Almost had me there. I thought you said "deblousing of the monks…" |

I could go check out one of Tango's posts that usually fires me up, I did want to finish the new bathroom handicap accessories. |

I'm morally, physically, spiritually and mentally superior to all of you in every way. (If you believe that, you're bigger fools than I thought you were!!) All of you should be Dawg Housed because I deserve TMP, not you! I, I, I say!! This Megalomaniacal Moment was brought to you by Rumm, CoQue & Lyme. |
wrgmr1 | 25 Sep 2015 6:35 p.m. PST |
I've never been there, so I can volunteer to check out the mold on the walls! |
Winston Smith | 25 Sep 2015 6:39 p.m. PST |
Here's the thing you can do. If you will not be on TMP Saturday or Sunday, volunteer to be DHed on those days. You will serve your just sentence and it won't bother you one bit. |
Mako11 | 25 Sep 2015 6:55 p.m. PST |
If you go, don't forget to lick the mold, daily, since it prefers a moist environment. Don't do it too much, or too hard, or it will smother you when you are sleeping, to get revenge. |

No members in the Dawg House at this time…. Some of you guys aren't trying hard enough…. More seriously: time to abolish the DH?
By this I mean any members who transgress THE CODE (written & unwritten) may still well get a temporary freeze on their ability to post, coupled with an PM from an Editor 'splaining why but with no public exposure of their sentence. You often get controversy over who has & who hasn't been D'Housed & this would stop that. Can I remind you of the calm that settled on TMP with the abolishment of the Stifling Table? Having bothered to write all this, I will admit that the Dawghouse-thing is not a major issue for me. |

The downfall of tmp will be when all former inmates in the doghouse file a class action suit against bill because we all got lung cancer because of all the asbestos in the walls. |

The Stifling Table is gone??????? OMG! |
Winston Smith | 26 Sep 2015 7:23 a.m. PST |
The Dawghouse takes the bad actors out of circulation for a while without banishment. It's like when Mommy sends you to your room to think about what you have done. Mostly what you think about is what a rotten deal you got and how to get away with it in the future. But Mommy still lives you and at least she gets an hour or two of peace and quiet. |

You often get controversy over who has & who hasn't been D'Housed & this would stop that. Can I remind you of the calm that settled on TMP with the abolishment of the Stifling Table? As opposed to stifles and ignores (which are individual decisions) being public, I think the Dawghouse adds to transparency in the application of policy. People already have problems understanding (and in some cases, even bothering to read) the rules. I don't think that people disappearing (even temporarily) in silence after a knock on the door in the middle of the night would be progress. |
Stepman3 | 27 Sep 2015 1:56 p.m. PST |
I kinda think the whole "Dawg House" concept is du……ah, never mind… |
ochoin | 27 Sep 2015 2:27 p.m. PST |
I don't think that people disappearing (even temporarily) in silence after a knock on the door in the middle of the night would be progress. And if this was anything more than a forum for toy soldier fanciers I might agree with your portentous judgement. People, both members & ex-members, take this place a touch too seriously. So, TMP having the overtones of Stalinist Russia or having a "transparent dawghouse" really don't signify either way. |
etotheipi | 27 Sep 2015 2:58 p.m. PST |
People, both members & ex-members, take this place a touch too seriously. I agree. I just think that removing the explicit accounting for dawghousing throws gasoline on the fire. And I think (and have seen evidence here) that some people who get spun up with an emotional response initially can be reasoned with. It's not unreasonable to have a visceral response, but information is key to dealing with such a response in a constructive manner. |

Maybe. As indicated I don't care all that much either way (though thanks for taking the time to write a lucid & courteous reply). |

Not this time. You had your chance. :-) The last time we had an empty DH I decided to "take one for the team" and made a post that literally broke every rule on the FAQ. (has anyone ever accomplished that before?) Yet I was still permitted to run free! |

Basileus66: "Still empty. We are growing old. Need new blood with an enthusiasm for rebellious behaviour." Nah. Age isn't it. With age should come a thickening of the skin. There are plenty here who have aged but haven't evolved to that point, and who immediately click on that complaint button. It's really a power trip tactic for the wah-wahs. Just takes one click to avoid the real world. Dan

Maybe. As indicated I don't care all that much either way (though thanks for taking the time to write a lucid & courteous reply). That's cool. The reply (as opposed to blowing off what you wrote), was a function of your equally level headed reply. It's almost as if it is possible for people to have a civil discussion on the Internet. Even people with different opinions and world views. Also, looking back, I am sorry if my sarcasm and tone didn't translate well. Pretty much everyone I know on my mother's side of the family lived through the "secret police" stage of the Soviets, Nazis, and then Soviets again, so the analogy may have different context for me than for most. |

Rather than click the complaint button, you post snide attacks of your own. Suggest you look in the mirror and count to 10, old boy. |

Jpattern2: "Seems like a pretty thin-skinned reply, Dan. Rather than click the complaint button, you post snide attacks of your own. Suggest you look in the mirror and count to 10, old boy." LOL. Mirrors and cameras spontaneously burst into flames as I pass by. I'm extremely frightened by my own reflection, but it is they who explode because of it. You are entitled to an opinion, of course. However, feel free to ask Bill the Editor if, in my 3,700 days* as a member (wow, I am old! Yikes), I've ever hit the complaint button because a post offended me. The only times I've ever hit that button have been to ask him to: 1) Cross-post a thread so that the original poster can get additional input from related groups; 2) Ask for a spelling change so that others can find that person's thread with ease later; or 3) Delete a duplicate thread of mine because of a glitch in the cross-post feature. And I've never hit the "Stifling" button or the "Ignore" button either. I don't even know what that Ignore feature is, nor care to know. Whatever I do, I do in the open. As I would hope others are able to do, despite differences. Some have a problem with agreeing to disagree, but I will defend to the death everyone's right to speak, even when it irks me or when they're wrong! :) D * Not as cool as your 4300, by the way. That's awesome. |

Not as cool as your 4300, by the way. That's awesome. You're assuming the date counts on TMP are more accurate than the post counts. |

That is so true! Who knows how long we've been around? Sometimes I feel like I've been too long. Dan |
etotheipi | 29 Sep 2015 3:02 p.m. PST |
You know, I've been here for a very long time. And I remember many things. I remember being at a shoreline. Watching a little gray fish heave itself up on the beach, and an older brother saying, "Don't step on that fish, Castiel. Big plans for that fish." I remember the Tower of Babel, all 37 feet of it, which I suppose was impressive at the time. And when it fell, they howled divine wrath. But come on, dried dung can only be stacked so high. I remember Cain and Abel. David and Goliath, Sodom and Gomorrah. And of course, I remember the most remarkable event – remarkable because it never came to pass. It was averted by two boys, an old drunk, and a fallen angel. The grand story. And we ripped up the ending, and the rules, and destiny, leaving nothing but freedom and choice. Which is all well and good, except… well, what if I've made the wrong choice? How am I supposed to know? But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you my story. Let me tell you everything. |
