I know the Germans used some of these, but does anyone have any idea how many ? Did they use them in unit strength or just as Officers roundabouts ? TIA. |

I think they were used as runabouts and general purpose and not issued to whole units but I will check this out |

I'm not aware of complete platoons of Dingos, let alone larger units. As you say, their main use seems to have been as officers' command/liaison vehicles. |

Just to muddy the waters a bit – link For the Germans some were purchased, some were captured, all were Dingo "clones" |

And on the first page here : link if you scroll down there are at least 4 Dingos assembled together – but I don't know where, when, or why ! |

Would/ did the Germans group foreign gear together….there are photos of ex-British cruiser tanks used for Barbarossa-maybe the same formation? |

Yes they did – spares and maintenance would be one good reason, training another. |

They did, but only to a point. Eg. the cruiser tanks in Barbarossa were only a relative handful (possibly 10?) and all belonged to the same battalion, being used as the "gun" tank platoons in a couple of flammpanzer II companies. That "grouping" was done by specific equipment type though – keep the cruiser tanks together rather than keep everything British together…. |
