I know this gun was used as an anti tank gun especially in the later stages of the war. But was it modified for this role? For example was it lightened or was the gun shield removed? Thanks for any help! |

The standard German artillery, including heavier types of guns as well, were not modified for the anti-tank role. There were limited numbers of dedicated anti-tank guns developed but these were far outweighed by the standard weapons in terms of effects on the battlefield. Light Minenwerfer were also enabled to fire direct at tanks too. Robert |
