Looking for a clear coat that is just clear. I have some kniggets and want to keep the shiny of the armor and the dull of the flesh and equippage. Any thoughts? |

Ral Partha allegedly had a clearcoat that would do that. I've never tried it, and have doubts about it. I would try brush-on dullcoats, and just hit the areas you want to keep dull. Damon. |

I don't think it is really possible. The shiny/mat is a property of the surface and anything you put over it becomes the new surface. I hope someone can show me wrong as it would be nice to have a coating material that didn't change the finish in any visible way. x42 |

x42brown x2 I spray matte and then brush gloss (or satin) varnish over the things that should be shiny John |

That might have to do, Garand. Makes sense, x42. Wasn't sure how that might work. jwebster that would probably hold the gloss better, but would change the metallic look of the armor. |

I spray everything with Dullcote Flat, the use some Future Floor Finish to spot the glossy areas. Fast and works too. jay |

I spray everything with Dullcote Flat, the use some Future Floor Finish to spot the glossy areas. Fast and works too. I'll second that. I use that technique to shine up the lacquer armour of my samurai figures. Simple, and works like a charm. |
