Hi all I recall reading a book about 6 years ago. Its about a slave in the British army during the American War of Independence. I'd like to get another copy. Does anyone know what the title is? Thanks Chris |

Interesting; Washington's Army fighting for freedom whilst his former slave fights against him – with slavery still rife. |

From the Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal Some more equal than others, of course and some not equal at all. The last argument against George III in the Declaration: He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions. The domestic insurrections include appeals to the slaves. I forget which British wag said "among the loudest crying for freedom are the drivers of slaves". On the other hand, we didn't have Lord Germain (ex Lord Sackville) determining our grand strategy. Oh, thanks for the head's up. Another book to add to my list. |

How is it that we hear the loudest yelps for liberty among the drivers of negroes? Dr Samuel Johnson |

… and then we had the ACW to sort that one out. At least it gives us another period to game ;-) |
