In case any of you have not heard, Jim Klein is putting together a book a book of civilian ships, similar to his new Fleet Books. We could use more ideas for ships, if any of you would like to come on over to the Facebook group, join us, and contribute to the discussion. The Facebook group is "Full Thrust: THE Tactical Starship Combat Rules" In the Files section is a draft copy of the civilian ships book, and there is an photo "album" that you can add your own ideas for designs to. Be sure to include a SSD, mass, cost (NPV + CPV), and any back story/information you have about the ship(s). Thanks, and hope to see some of you there. P.S. Doug, if you have anything you would like to submit, you can email it to me (or Jim Klein if you have his email). |

Had to break out in a big grin. Thanks, Bill. I'll be cogitating… Doug |

Ah, I forgot, if you have a suitable miniature that can be linked to so people can buy it, that would also be good information to have. |

Doug, check your email for a copy of the draft PDF. |

Got it. Right now, I've only got general thoughts on filling in some non-FTL 'boats'. I suspect they will be the bulk of civilian ships, and surprisingly useful in colonies, big and small. Whether necessarily the target of 'intruders' seems up to the players. Of course, as the boats will be oft be in systems without sufficient build facilities to create locally, some tenders to get them there seem appropriate as well. Doug |

I had not done up any system defense boats or monitors. Good idea. Of course a tender would be useful as well. I may throw together a few non-FTL defense boats, but feel free to do so as well. Let Jim decide what he likes. :) |

I do not use Facebook. Is there another way to submit ideas? Also, are you using the rules as posted by Jon or is there an updated format? I haven't been keeping track of FT lately. |

We are using both the FT rules from Jon and Jim's Project Continuum rules. You can email me at bill clo dude at comcast dot net with any ideas/SSDs. It is looking like we will be deferring any system defense boats/monitors, and the like, until a future product. |

I had not done up any system defense boats or monitors. Good idea. Sorry I wasn't clear; I meant tender/non-FTL for non-combatants. I assume some colonies will grow until they need system ships, but can't build same. The point is my assumption is that the vast majority of spaceships will NOT have FTL, and be insystem workhorses. Now, a tender bringing in nice new mining 'boats' might well be a pirate target. Unless you're a fan of corporate wars, and 'pirate raid' is a cover for a little unfriendly competition. ;->= Doug |

Oh I have nothing against corporate wars and mercenaries showing up. :) I will think on a FTL tug. The big problem is finding a suitable miniature at this point (haven't yet seen anything that seems to work yet). I have non-FTL police ships, private yachts, tugs, asteroid prospectors, ore extraction facilities. |

Right, but would have to be 'compact' versions, 'jeep' small, both small investment, small footprint in carrier for small colonies not yet 'mature'. Otherwise, you've got everything I was thinking of. And you let me just blither on… ;->= Doug |
