I am starting to paint 15 mm resin buildings for the first time and am wondering if I should use dullcote on them when I am done. Do they really need it?
Thanks

I tend to skip it on any building that will not be packaged and travel a lot. With resin models I travel with, I do dull cote. Otherwise, I don't mess with it.

I DullCote everything. Besides making things truly flat, the protection is never a bad idea. Plus, the stuff is really cheap….

Likewise, I Dullcote everything.

I paint my building using Humbrol Acrylics. Unlike Vallejo (which I use for my figure painting) Humbrol acrylics really grip and dry quite hard so I don't bother varnishing the buildings. I reason they aren't picked up that often so they don't need matt varnishing.

Yep … Dullcote everything …

I have always been in the "if it doesn't move, cote it" camp but I have listened to others over the years and now tend to agree that acrylic paint adheres so well to plastic and resin (but not metal) that gloss & matte coats are probably overkill. Plus if its a barn or old house you can always touch it up after 20 years of use

i do, and figure it's like wearing a belt and suspenders – not necessary, but your pants are even less likely to fall down and that's a good thing

Yes on Dullcoting all

Dullcote and Jello.
They go with everything.

I have never used Dullcote or any other matt varnish. Totally unnecessary if you use matt paint to start with.

I use cheaper sealants for scenic/terrain items. But I do protect everything.
