Is anyone using element based games (such as HotT) for witchfinding or witch hunting? Witchfinder General has probabaly more RPG than I am looking for in a game.

I've toyed with the idea of pitting ECW against Nurgle using HOTT but I haven't got around to it yet. Witch hunting was the intended vibe .
Actually thinking about it Irregular Wars could be tweaked for this.

Is Irregular Wars element based?

Yes -they recommend 60mm squares for 28mm and 30mm for 15mm but anything is fine, I use 50mmm with 28mm as it fit in with other rule systems. 40mm for 15 works well aesthetically.
Using HOTT for my Nurgle fight I would use a 100mm frontage although maybe a 50mm single element frontage would work as a sort of skirmish type thing-oh idea time!!!
The Witch Hunter and his force could be up against all sorts of ghouls, the resurrected, demons, witches and other foul beasts…

Thing is when you go out Witch hunting…

Sometimes you find a real Witch.

Be careful what you wish for.

You may get it.

What point would such a game have without at least a bit roleplaying? It is hardly hisorical wargaming after all :)

That aside, WFG works best with single figures and is a tremendously fun game!

Not element based, but with the release of the fantasy version of Lion Rampant in December, quickly followed by the planned release of a Pike & Shot version early next year, I've thought about combining the 2 to make a ECW Witchfinder setting.

Although witch finding does seem to be a more solitary or small squad kind of endeavor.

That's interesting; let us know if you do anything with it.
