We're talking naturalistic animals, here, not fantastic beasts of any sort. That being said, who are the top five or so sculptors skilled in this area? And able to work in 1/96 scale (approximately large 15 mm, as in 18 mm)?

Thanks.

Hi could you be a tad more specific as to what you want sculpting ?

For my money, Gerry from Castaway has some of the most beautifully sculpted camels around: link

However, in 15/18mm, I'd nominate Acheson Creations: link

and Splintered Light: link (I guess these are mostly sculpted by Bob Olley and Faron Betchley)

I have animals from both and they are delightful. Very good service as well.

Jeff Ewing, thank you for your helpful response. That gives me some direction to pursue as I develop a modest little project.

That being said, I'm still interested in hearing from others about good sculptors who handle naturalistic animals well.

Thanks in advance for additional information.

I think Richard Deasey (not sure on the first name) has done some superb animals in both 15 and 28mm over the years. I think he might sculpt for Acheson these days--I believe he did their prehistoric range of both humans and animals. Hope this helps!
