As it happens, Jackie Chan first made Armour of God, then Armour of God 2: Operation Condor.

But when he became popular, the second movie was imported to the U.S. first, becoming Operation Condor. Then the first movie was imported, becoming Operation Condor 2: The Armour of God.

Also known sometimes as The Armour of the Gods.

So the movie I am talking about is the first movie, from 1986, and my copy is labled Operation Condor 2: The Armour of God (but listed as Armour of God on IMDB). This is also (apparently) the shorter, "cleaner" American version of the movie.

OK, so this is basically Jackie Chan, plsying a character named Jackie Chan, who was in a band but when his girlfriend jilted him, he came a treasure hunter in the Indiana Jones tradition.

As the movie opens, he is escaping from a primitive tribe. He apparently has just obtained an ancient sword, one of five surviving pieces of the Knights Templars' Armour of God. He then auctions the sword off.

Unfortunately, an evil, devil-worshipping cult (hiding out as black-robed monks in a monastery under a cliff) decides to kidnap Jackie's ex-girlfriend, to blackmail Jackie into stealing the sword which he just sold! The cult believes that if they can obtain and then destroy the Armour of God, it will give them great power.

Jackie, eventually teamed up with his ex-girlfriend's annoying boyfriend Alan (played by Alan Tam) and May (played by Lola Ferner), the beautiful daughter of the collector who purchased the sword, must go after the evil cult and rescue Lorelei (played by Rosamund Kwan).

The movie ends with an amazing stunt, but the ending isn't entirely satisfying.

I give this movie 6 out of 10. It's an entertaining Jackie Chan movie, with the usual fights, stunts and humor. Alan is annoying (but he's supposed to be that way). The female roles (May, Lorelei) are small, and in this U.S. version, Jackie doesn't get much romance. The evil monks are devil worshippers, but otherwise not that interesting; the Amazon fighters are rather cool, though! (Women fighting in high heels, specializing in crotch kicks…)

This movie could easily inspire some game scenarios.

I remember it as a fun movie, back during my HK movie craze (and when video stores still existed). I have the sequel on tape, from when Rumble in the Bronx etc. lead to a rush of Jackie Chan movies being available. Keeping my VCR in working order to watch them is the challenge!

Operation Condor has some good scenarios too, with Nazis thrown in.
