Something like this, but done as a project for 15mm instead?

I can see a lot of potential for SF (Terminator), Modern, Post Apocalyptic, Zombies, Horror, etc.

So …

Show me the padded rooms where your people are awaiting rescue! Or your Sanctuary for those looking for a cure for the epidemic! Or your evil doctor's biohazard and experimentation labs! Or your gory "elective" surgery rooms! Or your hospital-turned-stronghold!

What design or floor plan did you follow? What materials and tools did you use?

There's a nice easy option here:

What about something like this as a starting point?

I'm not sure if it has removable floors.

On the other hand, Gamecrafter has a number of buildings that I think can be easily adapted, such as the stackable MDF city building.

Frankly that is not a hospital but a light security jail.

I think you mean "psych ward."

Cacique Caribe19 Sep 2015 2:21 p.m. PST

Well, once you find a way to scratchbuild a basic hospital, you could then customize it into a secret bio-weapons facility, a genetic experimentation laboratory, a psych ward or anything else.

Or just leave it as a basic hospital.

But you'd have to start with the basics first. Hallways, patient rooms, storage, nurses station, ER, OR ("operating" room), common areas for either patients or staff. If you want to go fancy, you could add a conference room, a morgue, biological waste incinerator, whatever.

And the basic hospital would have to be constructed with a removable roof, in order to really maximize the benefits of the interior structure and layout.

If you can find plans, our kids' schools are built similarly. Just 2 to 4 … subjects housed where a classroom of 30 would be.

Chris,

Hmm. I just realized that a basic floor plan for an "Urgent Care Center" (Clinic) could be modified a little by adding a few beds and a lab area:

With those modifications, it might pass for a small rural, regional or small community hospital.

I only wish these plans came with some sort of scale reference. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

The beds should be around 6' in length so you should be able to scale it from that.

Wasn't someone sculpting beds with half eaten people in them for exactly this type of scenario?

It was Rovanite and it was 28mm and he used that same hospital PDF!

How about the Plasticville railway building Hospital, it's HO scale and has two levels with inside detail, but I can never find one with reasonably priced shipping to send over to the UK though. :( Zac

Did Mad Mecha have one?

Chris Wimbrow20 Sep 2015 3:55 a.m. PST

I don't know about metric standards, but I've always checked the scale of an architectural drawing by the doors. The vast majority are three feet wide, at least for ordinary ingress and egress.

Hospital ward/room doors are usually a tad more than bed width…….Mad Mecha Guy has some buildings that would be suitable starting points…..

For minis, doors and Window height are what catches the eye, I think the most.

Yes most heavy traffic areas will have larger doors as well.

When laying out the rooms in something like this, I think having the tables, beds, and other things in the room, mostly 2d, on the floor makes playing easier.

THW has floor plans of hospital units in one of their ATZ supplements. I know someone on their forum built a hospital out of foamcore and what not. Was pretty nice looking AFAIR.
