I just found the army lists on the website, and thus am now aware that units are of varying sizes with a fixed number of bases and figures by troop type and nationality. That being so, would it not have made more commercial sense to sell the figures in packs that match the mandated unit sizes as per the rules?

As it stands, if you use the W & E rules in many cases you'll have to buy more packs than you otherwise would, and paint more units of a particular type than you would choose to, to avoid being left with large numbers of excess figures.

Perhaps this doesn't matter to practising historical wargamers who are probably going to use their preferred rule set anyway, but if the idea is to cultivate a new, more youthful and dedicated W & E community…

Can't find the army list anywhere?

I think the vast majority of people are using the figures for other purposes. I was involved in the Kickstarter and I remember them saying that the pack size was based on what fit in an individual mold. It is easy enough to spin one mold and put all those figures into a pack.

BTW, they are fantastic figures!

Well, they don't have much choice at the moment, Jeff; the W & E rules haven't been published yet. But once they are I strongly suspect the unaligned packaging will negatively impact on take-up of the system by the target market – a market that expects everything to be spoon-fed to it 'ready to eat'.

That might be so.
