As the first post on the new 6mm Napoleonics board, I present my latest Blucher unit, the British 7th Calvary Brigade. There are more photos on my blog, plus a tutorial on how I make my bases.

Thanks for looking!

That looks very good! Why the unusual shape of the base though?

I can see the appeal of 6mm they look cracking all formed up, just a shame my eyes couldn't cope with painting them.

Cheers guys, Bracken, i think you should try it. Just have a tester and see how you go!

Bashytubits, it's shaped like that for the firing arcs in Blucher.

Lovely!! bracken do try a wee tester, my eyes are shot to hell but I can do it!! and they look brilliant, really big armies.

Chinggis19 Sep 2015 5:20 a.m. PST

Nice looking tiny chaps.

To Bracken and everyone else who says they can't paint 6mm. It's easy: black undercoat, line down the arms and legs, swipe of white for the crossbelts, dab of flesh on face and hands, line of brown for musket and that's the basics done. I have painted 6 figure Irregular infantry strips in 10 minutes from start to finish.

Chingis, I must try that in 28mm….sounds better than some of my earliest work (indeed today's Chasseurs a Cheval of the Guard!)

Don't forget Perfect Six who puts on buttons and turnback ornaments in 6mm…….

Honestly, Abwehrschlact, I'm not trying to steal the thread but this is a perfect opportunity to help people.

Yeah, about those buttons and bits…look absolutely beautiful and are the Dallimore versions of 6mm but noooo, I wouldn't do it although I probably could if I really wanted to. I've reached the age (59) where the two foot rule applies and I'm sticking with that. There are loads of examples of my 6mm on my blog:

Thanks guys. Chinggis, steal away. If it helps someone paint 6mm I don't mind!

Hello Abwehrschlacht!

What a perfect way to start the board. Your picture really captures the essence of 6mm Napoleonic wargaming. Well done.

Best regards,

Glenn

Hello Glenn!!

Thanks for that, I really like the look of 6mm and it's perfect for that big battle feel of Napoleonics.
