I am looking for a small miniature, about an inch long, that would make a good space police ship.

I had previously been using Ravenstar Zeons, but I haven't been able to locate any.

They will be used in Full Thrust, figure mass 25-30.

I tried the miniatures list on Star Ranger, but it wasn't very helpful.

Silent Death has some neat minis, but finding out size info is a pain. (Metal Express – sizes on your website would be REALLY helpful). :)

Any suggestions?

MajorB15 Sep 2015 10:45 a.m. PST

I'm sure you could find a suitable model from GZG's own vast range

Already checked them. Basically I was looking for something about an inch long, sleek and streamlined. The Zeons were perfect, but I apparently can't get them anymore.

Something like this:

Hmm … sleek and streamlined …

How about this one:

Have you looked through the Silent Death stuff? I want to say Seraph, but probably am thinking the wrong thing.

Doug

Edit: Prowler? link

billclo15 Sep 2015 11:58 a.m. PST

The Prowler looks okay, not sure as to the dimensions, since they don't list any.

I heard back from Ravenstar; it turns out that the Zeon is still available, but not on their website right now, so this question is now obsolete.

Thanks anyways guys.

I was going to suggest this one from Brigade Models:

Not too shabby :)

ADB has an actual Federation Police Cutter.

You might try irregular miniatures for your ships. This is

Most of the Silent Death ships run about 1" or so. If you find one you like, let me know. I may have the figure and can provide pics and dims.

Billcio would you mind if we use your paint models on the site?

(Metal Express – sizes on your website would be REALLY helpful)

It's on our punch list, but in the mean time may I suggest our Prowler (0693):

Or our Kosmos (0614):

The Kosmos in the photo I just posted on our Instagram page is from the plastic sprue (0749). The metal version (0614) is very much similar if a bit less crisp than the plastic (and the plastic Kosmos comes with eleven other ships).

Or the Stinger (0688):

Or the Iklwa (0702):

I'm posting some shots of these four minis on our Instagram page with a tape measure as a guide to help you make your decision:

Hope this will help you on your quest for the perfect police cutters!

Chris, I can get you a better picture of the Zeon if you want (black background). The Zeons were painted up as Federation armed cutters, but you are welcome to use the picture(s).

I'll Facebook you a couple and see if you like the pics or not.

I may order a couple Stingers and see how they work out.

Thanks everyone.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2015 5:25 a.m. PST

Glad to hear you're first choice is available, Bill. Still curious about other possibilities. I'll be checking starfleetgames next.

Leland, Prowler was my suggestion, and I think closest of yours, to what was requested, but I've got this naggin' suspicion that something got renamed, and I can't find it, because I'm mind's-eye seeing a 'sleek brick' that would probably be even closer.

Prowler was the original Shirak, right?

Doug

Edit: I found a police cutter in the 2500 range. I'm not familiar enough with the bigger Mongoose designs to be sure from the comparison photo, but might be a tad large for Bill's project.

billclo16 Sep 2015 6:26 a.m. PST

Doug,

I ended up ordering some of the Stingers. Prowler looked nice, but was a bit larger than I wanted for a police ship.

I was aware of ADB's police ship, etc, but I won't do business with ADB anymore, so that's out. I have some of those police ships from the days when I played ACTA:SF (no longer).

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2015 8:25 a.m. PST

They're all a bit longer than I remembered. Sorry about that, but sculpts are varied enough to give quite the choice.

I know I won't ask about ADB; might engender language I would have used. ;->=

However, given your choice of the Zeon, the 'official' cutters wouldn't have sufficed, either.

The Brenik from Ravenstar ought to do the trick.

link

billclo16 Sep 2015 9:40 a.m. PST

That Brenik isn't bad at all. Hmm… pity I already ordered the ships from Metal Express, but I'll have to think about those as well. :)

Thanks

BlackWidowPilot Fezian16 Sep 2015 3:22 p.m. PST

Doug,

the Prowler was the original Shryak Shuttle *and* it had it's wings clipped (much to my personal disgust!). I'll have to post a shot of the original Shryak with its wings on as I keep on feeding our various web venues…

That sleek brick may very likely be the original Sentry repurposed as the Colosian Sapper mine clearance assault ship:

picture

The Sapper is quite a bit heftier than the Stinger, so I suspect it may be more than what @billclo is looking for…

Roger that!

Maybe too much so for Bill, but definitely what had in mind. Has the rough kind of presence that's even more Firefly than Serenity was. ;->=

Thanks!

Doug

BlackWidowPilot Fezian17 Sep 2015 10:26 a.m. PST

Doug,

it's as rough as I could make it when I designed the Sapper. Think an armed and heavily armored bulldozer optimized to bludgeon a hole through a mine field. Now let it manage to get ahold of a normal fighter in a head-on gun duel trying to stop the Sapper from doing its job… and I always appreciated how the sculptor positioned that paneling detail in the perfect orientation for painting a great big sawtoothed grin on the mini…evil grin

Here are a couple police ship miniatures that I just painted up:

Ravenstar Zeon. This is a police ship with Stealth-2. The hull is designed to mimic the local starfield so as to make visual detection more difficult.

System police ship in poor maintenance state. I used a Silent Death Stinger miniature.

BlackWidowPilot Fezian08 Oct 2015 8:53 a.m. PST

Nice. A finish similar to your starfield stealth camo spec was used or so I was told a number of years ago by a Silent Death player, who painted his ships to resemble the starfield of his gaming mat. The result was that more than one of his opponents actually would lose track of his ship minis during play, with occasionally fatal results!evil grin

I like the finish on the Stinger both for the color choices and for the "generic" scale neutral effect your color choices have produced. Very cool!

Thanks. I wanted to get the effect of well used, abused, and not too well maintained for a system police craft.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP08 Oct 2015 7:31 p.m. PST

Leland, I was just saying on the other thread, I'm usually the one losing track. 'Oh, hell, they've just been sitting there for three turns? THE SHIPS THEY COULD HAVE GUTTED!'

Scary part is, I can be that forgetful even playing Full Thrust, with ship displays right in front of me.

Doug

BlackWidowPilot Fezian12 Oct 2015 11:43 a.m. PST

@billclo, yup, looks like some of the less than state of the art local sheriff's cruisers I saw out in Texas a few years ago… evil grin Glad our stable of minus was of help to you in your quest!

Leland,

I seem to have been sent a double order of the 4 minis I ordered. I tried emailing you via your website and have not seen a reply. What would you like me to do with them?

Thanks
