I hate to be a killjoy but the Dunker Church wasn't made of brick. |

That's the Dunker Church after all the stucco fell off. That didn't really happen, but hey, it could have! |

Major goof – plenty of period photos around too! |

The only think I could remember was Dunker Church being white, so I went to Google images which look like the church is whitewashed brick on a stone foundation. |

Yes, it is whitewashed brick. Today it has been repainted so many times the brickwork is almost invisible. |

Well there you go! It occurred to me after seeing the above link I don't think I've ever seen a modern photo before. So much for period sources! :o) |

Today it has been repainted so many times the brickwork is almost invisible. This is only since the 1920s. It is not the same structure. Though Dunker Church survived a heavy barrage at the Battle of Antietam, it was razed by a storm in the 1920s. Rebuilt, it is an icon of the battlefield. Actually, the original structure was brick according to the National Park Service. Take a look at the after the war section of this page. link |

Even though the original structure was blown down in a storm in the 1920s, a farmer saved the bricks. The park service used the original bricks to rebuild the church in the 1960s. So much of the building is still "original". |

I wonder if the bricks were all put back in the same places? Do those 15mm bricks represent the original positions or the new ones? If the latter then it can only be used in Martian invasion of USA … what a problem!! Nice model by the way ;-) Well done to link |
