This is the M1801 uniform that was used for la Romana's Division in Denmark up until early 1808 when they were replaced by French Manufacture. The M1805 uniforms were only in partial use in Spain for the other regiments. All this is discussed in our book Spanish Infantry of Early Peninsular War The Spanish Cavalry of the Early Peninsular War will be out early next year. Stephen |

It's difficult to know which of the 12 light regiments wore the 1801 uniform (pictured here) in 1808 and which wore the 1805 one (blue jackets and bicorns). Bradford in 1808 painted a (fat little) fusilier of the Barbastro regiment in the 1801 uniform. Unfortunately I did my Barbastro in 1805 before twigging that. For the other regiments I think there is only the info on the two light regiments in the Romana Division (in Stephen's excellent book): 1st Catalonia in 1801; 1st Barcelona in 1805 but with shakoes and side plumes). |
