A while back, the Gentlemen Wargamers played a mini-campaign based on a tactical exercise by Von Moltke, set during 1809. The results of that campaign were somewhat lopsided (due to the Bavarian command disastrously changing their plan after movements had begun), so our host and gamemaster decided to go back and run the battle that would have resulted if they had stuck to their original orders. (There's a full, illustrated report of the original campaign here: PDF link ) This one worked out somewhat better for the Bavarians. Although Generalleutnant Wrede still had to fight a delaying action against greater numbers, this time his reinforcements actually arrived.
A photo AAR, with captions detailing the action, can be seen on my Flickr page: link Enjoy, Jeff |

Bonjour Jeff, Wunderbar! Very impressed by the game, figures, and IT your dexterity! Was in that part of Bavaria last year and have loads of 28mm Bavarians and Austrians so I will follow your lead and re-fight some of these battles using General de Brigade Rules. Inspirational and thanks for sharing. Cheers, Paul |
