Played a more complicated scenario with Post Captain. Still really like the system. Report found here: platoonforward.blogspot.com
For more of a look at the game mechanics go one post back to First Impressions.

Enjoy

Sounds like a fun system. Would Jack Aubrey be in his element here do you think?

Cheers,
Aaron

I resent your remark about Irish sail-makers.

Temp,

Jack would certainly be. As a matter of fact I have begun preliminary work on a campaign game Tentatively entitled "Captain Forward". It will be similar to my other Forward games.

Billy,
I apologize if it offended. It was meant tongue in cheek. Just like the "google earth" picture. I don't even know if the british sails came from Ireland; I suspect not.

Cheers

Joe

An excellent report that has convinced me to purchase Post Captain in the near future to supplement my War of 1812 land battles.

Have you incorporated this type of naval action with land war game units, particularly for War of 1812?

Joe Legan12 Sep 2015 8:27 p.m. PST

Iron Duke,

There is a whole section on land warfare in the rules that I haven't tried yet. For boarding actions I am using Donnybrooke rather than their rules but their rules are not bad.
I am not sure if I will use their rules for amphibious assaults or my own. That said, they have them. Each naval turn is three minutes broken into 3 one minute segments.

Thanks all

Joe

I resent your remark about Irish sail-makers.

Remember what Dr. Maturin tells us: "…patriotism is a word; and one that generally comes to mean either 'my country, right or wrong', which is infamous, or 'my country is always right', which is" something that probably will also offend.

And he had been involved in all matters Irish and English.
