It is beautiful model and I have always wanted to see the Pelisse, which, I gather, was once on display in the Rijksmeum but is now in the Dutch Army museum in Delft.

A question though. My understanding was that the pelisse could never be worn over the Dolmann, as shown here. Over the left shoulder in full dress, ok. But the fashion was for the sort of Levi flared denims I wore in 1971, with a 28 inch waist. Skin tight.

One or the other. Dolmann or Pelisse…not and……..

OK,I admit this particular figure has not fastened the Pelisse….

Often wondered about the derivation of his rig, which does seem based on a sound provenance. Is it British General of Hussars? Sure does not look "Dutch" or "Netherlands"!

The pelisse was far too tight fitting to wear over a dolman, however in this example, is not being worn over the dolman. William was wearing a braided vest under his pelisse during the campaign.

The origins of the cut of his uniform I would suggest appear to be following the fashion of the great cavalry heroes of the day, ie Lasalle etc.

I do see what you mean!

I had never appreciated the distinction.

This is indeed a waist length thing….and no more than that…

A braided vest! Never even heard of the idea. Brilliant (explains a lot else actually)

Well it certainly is a good paintjob…., but the "Marty Feldman eye" really ruins it IMHO.
