I recently had the chance to try out the new edition of A Fistful of Lead, which I'd never played before but which turned out to be great fun.

Here's a three part report on the game and a brief review of the rules.

The card mechanism isn't gimmicky at all and really adds a tactical element to the turn sequence, which prevents too much planning in advance. It also adds an element of randomness to the game which makes it unpredictable and a lot more fun.

No idea about the differences from the last edition as I haven't played it before.

The author, Jaye Wiley, explained his thinking behind the rules on my blog..have a look there and you'll see why it all makes a lot of sense.

In retrospect, I don't think it needs fixing with any house rules, unless they are part of a specific scenario and set of objectives.
