What is the roller on the front? |

Ditching roller, it was spring loaded and intended to stop the front end digging in if the 'track ran into a ditch, also found on M3 Scout Cars. There was another version of front end which had a winch. |

Typically in an armoured rifle platoon the platoon leaders vehicle would have the winch the rest rollers. At least of equipped by the book… |

Nice model! But for post titles, it always helps to specify which flavour of M is under discussion. Although it is fun to guess before opening the post ^,^ I guessed wrongly — light tank. Could have been medium tank, scout car, anti-tank gun, SMG, gas mask, stock pot, serving ladle, shelter half, cot, tent peg…. |
