While I am moving predominantly to 15mm armies there are a few "larger" sized armies (1680 – 1774 Spanish Colonial in North America, LOTR style Fantasy dwarf and VSF skirmish) that I wish to keep (or duplicate) in "Smaller scales/larger figures" format. It is the second of those that this post is about. Since I have Der Kriegspieler and 1970s/early 1980a Ral Partha that style very much is my preference, not so much Renaissance Dwarfs or GW's Cartoonish Crap. So to complicate my life I was thinking to find dwarfs in four categories: 1) Compatible with 25 mm humans (roughly 15mm to 18mm tall – I have that well covered but feel free to suggest others.) 2) Compatible with 28 mm humans (approximately 18-20 mm tall, also covered but suggest away anyway) 3) Compatible with 30 mm humans (these wold be approximately 20-23mm) – have a lot would like some more ideas but would to to fill in units 4) Compatible with "Heroic" figures (35mm +/-) approximately 23 – 25 mm tall – not so well covered but for this I would want just a few PCs for FRPGs and small numbers for skirmish types figures. |

For number 1 i'd use splintered light's dwarfs, not the 15mm ones but I think the 20mm is what they're labelled. But for maybe 3 or 4 i'd use dwarf wars and ratnik. |

Ditto cragglow for 1 and 2. The Bob Olley dwarves are great. I think Rebel Minis do a 15mm conquistador inspired dwarf army if that helps with the first bit? |

Caesar Fantasy makes some nice 1/72 scale, 20mm tall, Dwarves. They come in a box of 34-36 figures, typically for $15 USD delivered, from China -- check e-Bay. I own several other sets from Caesar, which are also 1/72 scale, and decent quality. Super bang for the buck, IMO. Cheers! |

I had several sets of Caesars minis, including the Dwarves. I liked them so much that is considered switching to 20mm fantasy. Unfortunately, no one else In my circle of gamers would… |
