After recently receiving a copy of Neil Thomas' One-Hour Wargaming (OHW), I carried out the first game for pike and shot. My first impressions/review of OHW: link Scenario for Battle of Southam: link Battle Report for Battle of Southam: link |

Good review, Jon, thanks! I think I would still prefer Ironsides. |

An excellent book review and a great battle report. If I wasn't already 'sold' on using Neil Thomas's OHW rules, I would be now. |

Jon – thanks for the review and play-through – well done. I am fairly new to this and being old I like simplicity. I see they are available on Kindle so will probably give them a try. |

They are fine on the Kindle. If you like a set for a period, it takes no time at all to type out the rules onto two sides of A4 so you have them at hand. I did this for the ACW set. |

Guys, I appreciate your kind words regarding the review and BatRep. Much appreciated! |

Thanks for the offer, normsmith. Kindle being instant gratification, I already have it and have read through various parts of the book. The scenario collection is useful (I don't have that many) and appreciated that there is a small chapter on solo wargaming (which is pretty much the norm for me). At some point I'll try a play-through of the Pike and Shot rules. Clean and simple – although, as Jon indicated in his review, you can probably quickly end up in situations not covered by the rules ( happily not much of a problem for us soloists) |

I had a go at Southam, using my heavily modified version of the OHW rules and the obligatory paper figures.
