According to Anthony Beevor, in 1968 during the Prague Spring when the Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia, rogue West German generals attempted to invade East Germany – the result would have been war…

Inspired by this piquant snippet of Cold War history, and growing ever more impatient for the release of Team Yankee, I decided to adapt the Fate of a Nation stats and rules to the North German plain….

Nice.

That is one substantial table you have there.

Navy Fower Wun Seven07 Sep 2015 4:13 a.m. PST

Thanks mate – yes – 12 x 6 foot. It'll be an even bigger battlefield with the 15mm toys on it!

nsolomon9907 Sep 2015 4:22 a.m. PST

Looks great. These are the tanks of the age I grew up in and the scenario most frequently imagined and rehearsed. Well done that man.

CAG 1907 Sep 2015 4:27 a.m. PST

Looks really good. How do you think Infantry would have affected the game ?

capt jimmi07 Sep 2015 4:45 a.m. PST

thanks for posting !

Nice game

A platoon or two of infantry with LAWs (which I believe BAOR had in 1968) could have made life interesting for those Russian tanks in the trees

Dynaman878907 Sep 2015 5:13 a.m. PST

Awesome idea and awesome looking game!

nickinsomerset07 Sep 2015 5:16 a.m. PST

Lovely looking game, best you think slightly earlier and invest in a Conqueror or 2!

Tally Ho!

David in Coffs07 Sep 2015 5:40 a.m. PST

Absolutely fantastic – very inspiring!

Jamesonsafari07 Sep 2015 6:16 a.m. PST

Very cool! Always good to see Centurions blowing away T55s! Now you need some of Elheim Figures new 20mm BAOR in the mkIII helmets and SLRs.

Cosmic Reset07 Sep 2015 6:48 a.m. PST

Good stuff, thanks for sharing it.

Reactionary07 Sep 2015 7:22 a.m. PST

Lovely stuff!

Bellbottom07 Sep 2015 9:14 a.m. PST

Very nice indeed, love Centurians

Captain dEwell07 Sep 2015 9:33 a.m. PST

Excellent. Excellent looking game, excellent that you shared it here.

I'm mightily impressed with the recent postings of Cold War scenarios. May have to take a closer look at this period. thumbs up

Fantastic gaming table, fantastic miniatures and it's fun to see NATO on the offensive for a change.

With a lot of ww3 scenarios, one could omit movement rates for NATO tanks and they'd play the same :)

Mako1107 Sep 2015 12:12 p.m. PST

A great looking table, and minis!

Thanks for sharing your battle report, scenario, and info.

I too have been thinking about some possible engagements centered around the Hungarian and Czech. invasions, and pondering what might have happened if the West had intervened. Hadn't heard of this West German troop revolt. Makes sense.

Arrrrrggggggggh, now I'm gonna have to add Centurions to my wants list too, in addition to all the other great Cold War kit out there. They'd work great for Danes and Swedes too, which is a plus.

Must work on increasing my NATO and communist defense budgets, ASAP.

Still want those beautiful Chieftain Vs first though, for the British, since they are such lovely, powerful tanks, and were the main battle tanks in service back when I was growing up.

Well done.

Navy Fower Wun Seven07 Sep 2015 1:27 p.m. PST

Well thank you all very much for your kind comments!

Yes, I have some of the lovely Elheim British and Russian infantry – if only they were painted! I agree that a platoon in the woods, and the village, would have added an interesting dimension to the game, as would a brace of Conquerors!

Weasel07 Sep 2015 5:57 p.m. PST

Mako – Centurions is one of those tanks that you may as well buy, because you can find a use for them pretty much anywhere :-)

D A THB07 Sep 2015 6:46 p.m. PST

Nice game, which has yet again put me back in the 20mm camp for doing Cold War gaming.

Royston Papworth13 Sep 2015 11:11 a.m. PST

It is a shame though, that no new kits for the Centurion and Chieftain seem to have appeared, well for 20mm and those in 15mm usually seem to be for the Israelis…

I would love to see S Models bring out a late model Cent…
