If you wanted to paint some plastic Celts, what would you buy? I'm thinkin WGF is better because their hoplites are decent, but I wanted to check with you guys. |

Also if any of you want to send me a link to a Celtic chariot where the driver is standing boldly on the yoke, that would be appreciated. |

WGF is larger than Warlord. And WGF chariots each have a Boudicca figure as well. |

They are both excellent (for plastics). I have them both mixed with several other manufactures (I think for warrior armies of this type a wide range of manufacturers together work well but not just two manufacturers). If doing one box I would be choosing Warlord Games but only because they are UK (home country) as you're US Wargames Factory might be the choice. x42 |

I just checked the WGF site, it looks like they have the yoke-surfer as well. |

Use both I did in fact as they are plastic you can, with a bit of work, swap parts between the two manufacturers like I did

Warlord games doesn't have way smaller heads? I found their hoplites to be non-swappable for this reason. |

Nope the picture above is both manufacturers mixed in the same unit with head and arm swaps between the to. |

Both are good but I am not fond of some of the "athletic" poses in the Warlord games set |

Warlord games doesn't have way smaller heads? I found their hoplites to be non-swappable for this reason. Were the WL hoplites not originally another manufacturer? Or could it be yet another mid-life brain pfffffft on my end? |

Yes, the Warlord hoplites were originally Immortal Miniatures. And they're considerably smaller/slimmer than other Warlord plastics. |

I'm a fan of WGF myself (slightly bigger with easier to paint details IMO)they also seem more sturdy and open more conversion work. I'm not opposed to other plastics I just seem to have more fun doing the WGF (yes some are s to build I know). I would build up a box of each and if I grabs you do a mix :) that should be army done :D Cheers |

If you are happy to wait, for variety, I think Victrix will produce Gauls after they release their Spanish. Maybe worth an email to them? |

Victrix Celts would be awesome! I have all of their ancients sets and they are very well done (although the slingers seem to have more shallow details than I was expecting after their hoplites …). Wargames Factory is entering into a contractual agreement with Warlord with Warlord being the sole distributor of the WGF line and having choice of which sets to eliminate from the WGF line and which to combine, etc. link So, speculation is that competing sets for Warlord's figures will just disappear. This begins at the end of this month, so if you're looking to get some figures, do a search around the web and see what you can find for a cheap price. (I started a thread on the WGF forums of where you buy their sets cheaply.) These include the ancients and the WWII. Mind you, nothing has been finalized yet, but the "scuttlebutt" certainly supports this. Warlord will also be setting the prices for the sets. So, you can bet they will go up in price to match Warlord's other sets. (i.e. the new Warlord plastic WWII German Airborne set is $41 USD USD while the Wargames Factory WWII sets are $22. USD The WGF webstore will most likely be disappearing at the end of the month as well – according to their few remaining employees (most of the people who worked at WGF were laid off, by the way). |
