The event schedule for this year's NavCon is filling out nicely. With a month left to go, there are 25 events listed already. There's a curious gap in the 19th century as of now (ironclads are usually a popular subject at this gathering) and another in the post-WWII era, but the breakdown so far is Ancient Galleys – 1 Age of Sail – 6 World War I – 2 World War II (surface) – 9 World War II (naval air) – 2 War College talks – 3 Plus a couple playtests of the new Sky Dreadnoughts rules from Harry Pratt (author of Naval Thunder). I'm really looking forward to this one. More details on the website: navcongames.com If you've got an event to run, get it on the list soon. If you're just planning to attend the world's largest all-naval-gaming convention, it's time to make your travel plans. See you at the con! Jeff |

Indeed. A couple more events on Sunday morning, too, including another Age of Sail event. The staff recently commented to me that Age of Sail games seem to be exhibiting a surge in popularity at Navcon. I see Ron also make partial (I can forgive him for that – it's less than two weeks to the con and he's pretty busy) corrections to one of my event listings, but just to be clear: my "Captains Bold" games are 2-player frigate duels. It's technically a board game, but I'll be using miniatures. I'll be running multiple games during each session (individual games seldom last an hour), and I'll have multiple copies of the game available so more than two people can play at a time. |
