After playing my first game in over 30 years of 6mm Cold War I played another! It has taken a while to get it written up. Similar scenario to the first one with the Soviets attacking a village held by some British. Full AAR on the blog: link With the following shot of the Soviets dismounting to attack the village:

Hopefully it won't be another 30 years before your next game! |

It might be – I'm actually digging out some other miniatures that I have not gamed with for over 30 years for a game with them, so I have form :-) |

Looks like fun. Do the rules permit you to use artillery smoke barrages for cover? I was thinking that perhaps the T-80s, if they are permitted to have ATGM missiles by the rules, could possibly go on overwatch at the start, and that a smoke barrage against the Chieftains would perhaps reduces losses further. Not sure if they have thermal sights to be able to fire through that (later variants probably did, but don't know about the Chieftain Vs). Anyway, just wondering if the rules permit those tactical options? |

The rules do permit artillery smoke barrages. T-8-0s could have ATGWs if you wish (it is an option). Definitely the T80s could on overwatch at the start of their turn. The problem is that my artillery call rolls were crap! I rolled every turn for Soviet artillery, and only twice (I think) I was successful. In larger games there would be more supporting artillery and you get to call individually for each battery. But in my game the Soviets only had one :-) All the tactical options you suggest, besides the thermal sights, are possible in the game. |

Awesome, Shaun, it's good seeing you get the old toys out. Hopefully you've got plans to keep going, they've been fun. Though with the rate you're losing villages, I'm not so sure you'll be allowed to remain in command ;) V/R, Jack |

I am tempted to play a few more right now but have a few other "30+ year i have no played with" miniatures to get out and give them a chance to be in a game before I die! |

Thanks for the info, Shaun. Funny, I've been thinking the same thing about my poor little microarmor troops, and myself as well. |
