I have seen some rule sets rating the Sassacus class double-ended paddle-wheelers as having a reinforced "ram" bow? Is that accurate? (Reference the Sassacus causing little damage to the Albemarle while nearly wrecking itself in a ram attack.) If it is accurate, would the other end of the ship also have a "ram-bow"? (Or is that a ram-stern?)

No, don't think so.

No mention of a ram bow in any of my sources:
Gibbons "Warships and Naval Battles of the US Civil War" (Dragon's World, 1989)
Richardson & Roberts "If It Floats Put a Cannon on It" (Gray & Blue Naval Museum, 2000)
Silverstone "Warships of the Civil War Navies" (Naval Institute Press, 1989)
Mac Bride, "Civil War Ironclads" (Chilton Company, 1962)

Given that Sassascus came off worst when she rammed Albemarle I think that rules giving the class ram bows are dubious.

Thank you for your inputs, I greatly appreciate it.

no ram bow. However, a ship that has more mass ramming something small like the Albermarle could hope to literally run up on top of her and swamp her. Or as the case that nearly happened to Virginia, getting locked together and dragging her to bottom.
