For those who play BP Naps, have you considered ways to deal with artillery attacked by cavalry. Currently, the feeling is they are at risk of sweepingt cavalry advances, so:

Do they evade? And if so, are horse and foot treated differently?

Do they take shelter in nearby squares?

Are they treated differently if charged against hit by a breakthrough charge?

Would be interested in other people's experiences and/or treatments. Thanks

Just to be clear, you're talking about arty being attacked during a sweeping advance after they've defeated another unit (probably infantry or other cavalry).

We don't treat them any differently. After all, they don't have time to react after a unit in front of them is run off, and they probably thought they'd be protected. We just play it per the rules.

Both actually. Currently, the sweeping advance mullers them. But in normal terms, what do artillery do when cavalry spend three "moves" charging across the battlefield to get to them?

Mercer refers to hiding in squares, but I wonder how often that happened. I wonder if, more often than not, they legged it, limbers and all (as the limbers are not going to hide in the squares).

So should they get a chance to evade? Hide in squares, something else (beyond die, which is the result currently).

If they do evade, do they emerge after the charge and start shooting again without a test? Are all gunners heroes? Mercer didn't seek shelter because he thought the infantry might bolt when they saw the gunners running.
