Hi, I have recently updated my blog with a couple of items just some more Romans. Also some highlighting and rebasing some older Austrians I'd done in the past.

Very nice, the 60mm base gives a nice block of infantry. If you can do it without the ink running into the grass, I would be inclined to get a bit of ink onto the stones.

I have just put some diluted Agrax earthshade ink onto some Austrians and the staining is too brown, I have bought some Nuln Oil to get a blacker ink, which I hope will look better.

Thanks I'll give that a try it does feel like the stones are missing something.

I was debating whether to build up shading from a grey base for my future Austrians since I had to go back over with white after the Delvan Mud wash anywhere. However I quite like the grubby look they get from a brown wash. I have some plastic Italeri Austrians I have done in a similar style that I will post soon.

Concerning inks: I use Army Painters Dark Tone over a white base coat. After that I build up the white uniform by painting it a very light grey, making sure to keep the inky blacklining. This gives a nice mix of stylish white, that's not too bright for campaign.

They are very nice – I have some of the Shako wearing ones.
