Are the books that go into some OOB, Terrain , other details on any dark age, middle ages battles? |

Martin Hackett wrote "The Wargamers Guide to Dark Age Britain.". In it, he tries to establish the battle fields, oob's and probable course of battle. I believe he recently released a book on battles in Wales, too. |

For some odd reason, I thought Gripping Beast/Tomahawk Studio/4Ground were suppose to collaborate on a SAGA scenario book to use with the Viking Great Hall produced by 4Ground. I have been waiting for the book and nothing yet. |

Agreed, original saga seems almost totally unsupported mow that the Crusade variant came out? I'm still hoping for a Arthurian source book! |

If you look here link there is a freebie for the Battle of Heavenfield, also if you look at the refight of Deorham (Dyrrhim) you will be able to work out a game from that. I keep my info general as having researched a lot of these battles there really is a paucity of information, sometimes even the place or year is suspect. For many if you have a vague idea then it is easy just to get on with it with what you have at hand. |

Yeah its not so much a matter of my wanting to be dead on with historical accuracy as much as I enjoy the painting and fielding of the armies. The playing of the game, and despise list making as a whole. I would rather play a game with the resources on hand per se, rather than try and make my own lists. So I figured historical scenarios would be a good route. Then I realized I get so distracted and crazy, thats its probably best that I look around find a scenario and build the troops & battlefield, that might make me less ohhhh look shiny XYZ!!!! |
