Looks like fun, those Tromney troops look fantastic. |

but age of sigmar doesn't have campaign rules… How is it a campaign then? |

What? Seriously? We're linking our games together with some storylines we make up and then making up some rules to help us play the game that will tell the next bit of the story. That's what a wargame campaign is. |

I can't take any credit for the Empire models Pictors – all the work of General Ballroom. But yes, he's a very good painter. |

then if someone is killed he miraculously resurrects for the next battle? seuqels, experience, those are the things that make a campaign |

TWD6968: Great stuff, we are about to embark on our own AoS campaign in a similar style to yours! Noigrim: I am with TWD here. Are you seriously telling him how he should be playing his campaign? |

No noigrim, in my view those are the things that make for a book-keeping exercise. Now if that's how you choose to get your jollies you go right ahead. Wargaming is a broad church and some* of my best friends are accountants. Far be it from me to tell a random person on the internet I've never met how they should do their hobby – that would be plain rude and make me look a trifle silly. :) If it's OK with you, me and my chums will carry on just making stuff up. *none |

Thanks Matt. We're having fun with small numbers of warscrolls and some simple (and maybe a bit silly) scenarios. However the rat-player has just dropped out of this weeks game, so I'll have to come up with a different battle for my goblins to take on von Tanzsalle's Tromney defenders. |

TWD6968… how DARE you inject your imagination and fun into a game… you must stop immediately and return to only playing games by the letter of officialdom filtered by wonks, fanboys and rules lawyers…. LOL… :D |

TWD6968, thanks for posting, sounds like you had a right laugh. I'm struggling to see how I can balance a game of AOS. Do you have a process to help balance the games? Thanks, Furgie |

Hi Furgie, Not really. We're only using small numbers of warscrolls and lots of basic troops. We're also randomising unit sizes (Steve says it reminds him of Realm of Chaos or something). Its also a bit "by eye" and experience. For instance last night I played again and Gen B swapped his cannon for five outriders and we just both sort of felt that seemed like a fair swap (I think we both also said – "roughly equal points under the old rules" too). I think the key is we're three old mates who know each other pretty well and just want to have fun, so there's no point in trying to win by just having a "better army". So we've just sort of agreed the forces. Not ideal for "pick-up" games but then that's not what we're playing. Tom |
