Who makes 15mm SF civilian citizens (Human) in business and casual attire?

Hopefully, Humans of different ages and body types. Hair is easy to convert, with a little bit of Green Stuff though.

Thanks,

No one, with futuristic garb, despite my pleas.

GZG does some in overalls, and clothing similar to today, and or yester-year (western, cowboy attire).

I'd like to see some far-future attire as well (or present future for some), like more form-fitting, uniforms and leisure clothing. Think the UFO SHADO crew outfits, some versions of the Star Trek universe, jogging suits, yoga pants, dresses women wear on the Red Carpet to the Oscars, etc., etc.).

I have heavily considered doing about a dozen civies for the DSG Spec-Sec line, but considerable polling of customers has shown that people prefer to have more cyborgs and Landmates instead as plastic railroad figures are easily available. As they are without much detail they can be painted anyway the user wants, including fanciful dress.

Cacique Caribe31 Aug 2015 11:38 a.m. PST

Sad to hear that.

Plastic HO railroad figures might save a little money, and are passable for massed zombies and such, but the effort and time required to make them look anything remotely resembling any of the pictures above isn't really worth it.

Throw me some cash, and I can make it happen! :D

I for one agree, we need more Civilians…. Maybe get PF to do some aliens alongside his armed dudes….

Jimboba31 Aug 2015 4:15 p.m. PST

RAFM? You know the old citadel/ traveller sculpts. Certainly matches the brief but a bit chunky next to some more current styling.
All over anything from PF!

BlackWidowPilot Fezian31 Aug 2015 5:15 p.m. PST

RAFM! Thank you, Jomboba! Those old Traveller figures paint up just fine IMHO, and there's plenty of poses to at least create a viable gaggle of civilians for a scenario or three…

…. And Darby, don't some of your Colony figures rather fit the at least armed civilian category? Perhaps you could have some unarmed versions produced through removing the weapons from stock figures to create some useful metal masters?

Just a thought…

Two moron my brain cells just collided, so here's some more food for thought for ideas for futuristic civilians, Google up the fashion designs of Yogi Yamamoto. My Significantly Better Half is in the high end fashion retail profession, and Yamamoto is one of the designers The Boss is especially find of for his slightly edgy/funky fashion designs…

I think Brigade Models has a great alien set by PF…

Rebel Minis has a few modern-ish business suits.

RAFM? You know the old citadel/ traveller sculpts.

Did RAFM produce any of the 15mm? I have some old Martian Metals, DAMN clunky. I don't recall the styles being particularly futuristic, except for some headgear, but it's been a long time since I dug them out.

DSG: How much to get you started?

GZG has their colony civilians, could be just a matter of the paint job you give them.

RAFM figure could work as well again it's all in matter of the paint.

@TheBeast: Looking into it. I can guess at costs, but I'm trying to nail them down closer to realistic.

What we could do is a group commission through DSG. Everyone pitches in enough to have a sculpt made to their specs and to help cover the molds, and in return everyone gets 2 or 3 or 5 of each figure in the commission (depending upon final costs and total of figure types). DSG would cover the rest of the costs of manufacturing and retain the rights to produce and sell the sculpts.

A group of us did this in 20mm over on the Fields of Fire forum a few years ago, using the old CP Models as our POC and Tony Boustead (sp?) as the sculptor. I believe it is Under Fire Miniatures that now sells our designs (one of which is of my father in his Project Sigma patrol gear) and it was really successful. Some very cool figures were designed, including a running medic, prone M-60 and M-16 gunners, Vietnamese civilians, VC suspects, a SEAL in jeans and a flotation vest with a cut down RPD, and some NVA characters (one with a flag). It's a great way to get special things done and spread some love.

I also liked some of the outfits the general population of Bregna wore in Aeon Flux. I wish I could get better pictures though – maybe something like a concept sketch for the film.

There are a couple of Asian designs here that could work for Firefly, Total Recall, Pulp and Even Old West.

Wow. I don't know how I missed your post. That never happens. When Leland speaks, I always make sure to listen.

I'll look up his designs later this evening. Can't wait to see what they look like. Thanks!

Leland,

Wow, awesome pics. I really like …

Photo # 5 – The white outfit hanging in the foreground, right of center;
Photo # 6 – The gray outfit worn by the girl with the Wolverine hairdo on the far left; and
Photo # 7 – The red outfit the black girl is wearing

Thanks!

Dan,

The Boss also recommends that you look up the work of designer Issey Miyake:

In going through some of Miyake's designs I stumbled across a pattern that would make a good non-human interpretation of camo spec:

Hmmmm… I might try that pattern out on a new kitbashed grav tank or three… evil grin

It would be nice seeing more than just colonists and farmers; don't aliens invade established worlds?

Also, what about dignitaries, civil officers, ambassadors and staff? Even Palpatine in Star Wars had his coterie of hangers-on.
