This is Halkett's 3rd Hanoverian Landwehr brigade.

I had the brigade painted some years ago by Essex Miniatures painting services and then gave them one each of Revo's KGL battalion flags with the battle honours painted out. However, on seeing GMB's beautiful flags (www.gmbdesigns.com) I decided they needed a new lease of life, complete with new static grass/MDF basing courtesy of warbases.co.uk.

I painted up 4 new colour bearers (AB), trying out some new skills along the way, re-painted the drums with the correct colours and re-based the brigade…I'm very happy with the results!

As ever, apologies for my photography!

Your photography is fine.

Your colour balance is just perfect and lighting of figures that size must be murder. Too much light, a white out and the most matt finish is reflective. Too little and everything turns yellow.

Your only problem is the focus. OK. You could solve that in various ways.

First. Close the shutter down. That means less light in, but more depth of focus. Compensate for that by having a much longer exposure. But that needs a steady hand. OK, use the cheapest tripod and a delay of a few seconds on the trigger or a cable for shutter release. Or even change the ASA on your camera.

I do assume you are using digital. I still have a macro camera I bought for £800.00 GBP in the late 1980s that takes 35 mm film (Yashica Dental Eye II). Imagine £800.00 GBP 30 years ago. Worth nothing now. Ring flash, macro lens, X2 mag….worthless. In my attic………

Thanks for the tips Deadhead…that was just my steady hand with my iPhone in my tiny kitchen flat! When I have the new house…there will be space for all the above! Great pointers, thanks
