They would also be able to afford a lifestyle which eliminated the need for more clothing than they wanted to wear. The sheer amount of mass in an object has a limited bearing on its price; I'm sure it costs a surprising amount for a teen girl to end up simply wearing a near-transparent open shirt over a top that's basically an extra layer of bra and shorts that are a zipper, two pockets and a belt loop away from being buruma. Fictional princesses don't wear ballgowns every day like Disney princesses, and don't always have balls to attend. Neither type is particularly well known for dressing for the footplate. |
