For my Warhammer games I'm planning on doing scenarios that involve some barricades or defensive works.

Couldn't decide what to use for materials, then hit upon the idea of floral foam. Floral foam carves very easily, and even though it's fragile, it can be made very sturdy if spackle is applied over it and a layer of white glue.

I used cork board for the bases, and then just carved out rough half-cylinder shapes. I rubbed spackle over the surface of each piece to give it a dirt/earth texture. After the spackle was dry I painted each piece with watered down PVA glue to give it a sturdy seal. Then each piece got a base coat of brown with a lighter brown high light.

The defensive stakes are just small barbecue skewers painted brown.

I think these came out pretty well, I'm pleased with the results;
