A bit of a guilty pleasure show off post today highlighting some WW1 British Battlecruisers I painted up on my recent trip to Normandy.

I do love these models but I'm not too happy with the recent price rise £12.00 GBP a ship is a lot of dosh when you're buying in bulk. Luckily WTJ haven't put their prices up !

Hi steamingdave47,

I paid £9.60 GBP which is a lot for a Yarkshire lad, thats almost 10 pints down working mens club ! £12.00 GBP is the new increased price.

Beautiful models, beautifully painted. I also like your basing tutorial. Thanks for sharing.

Did I understand you to say that 10 pints costs about 10 GBP? I may have to move to Yorkshire. I routinely pay $6.00 USD a pint here in the central US for really poor beer.

Hi Allen 57,

A bit of a light hearted comment. In the North of England we have a tradition of working mens clubs, usually members only and linked to a Political Party, a Factory / Mine or a branch of our Armed Forces. Because they are owned by the members profit is less of an issue so beer is traditionally cheap in these places.

Collectivisation is a bit left wing for the US probably but if the Communists advertised cheap beer a bit more maybe they would get more votes ;-). Beer would be about £2.00 GBP to £2.50 GBP a pint normally, we did nearly have a riot thought a few years back when the price of a pint went over £1.00 GBP !

Thank you for the post!

Thanks for the info Ken. I belonged to an officers club here after I retired from the Navy. They too had cheap beer but no political affiliation. Alas the terrorism threat closed them down. Now I drink at home.

Nice looking battle line Ken – though how many you have left to push around the table once they come up against Hipper's battle cruisers is another matter ;-)

I predict a post very soon showing the very same.

Hope some of that beer is "real ale," a style well worth preserving.
