Finally got to the point where I could finish off my woods terrain. I bought two of the Citadel Woods kits, I absolutely love the bases and the tree trunks and branches.

However I realized I had to do something about the actual foliage. The plastic leaf canopies that come with the kit are absolutely hideous and just don't look good.

After much internal debate, I just thought I would try Woodland Scenics clump foliage, which worked fabulously. It just improves the Citadel kit so strikingly. The trees have a wonderful twisty fantasy/banzai feel to them.

I attached the clumps with hot glue in layers, working from inside to the out.

The new foliage is a vast improvement on the plastic (and flat) leaves.

Well done.

I might just try this. How many bags of foliage did you use?

Baranovich28 Aug 2015 11:02 a.m. PST

@Beowulf,

I was able to do all three trees with less than (1) 3 QT. bag. I bought it a couple years ago but if the code is still current it is Woodland Scenics FC182 Light Green. I still have about 1/4 bag of foliage left.

Here's the current link for it. I would imagine you'd be able to get it a bit cheaper from a general hobby supply site, it's $18.99 USD if you get it directly from WS;

Never liked those trees at all, but your work has turned me around. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Nicely done! That looks so much better than the plastic leaves.

They look great. Such a difference.
