An interesting design, though I'd think they'd want to blend the engines into the fuselage a bit better. Of course, having pods sticking out gives them easier access for servicing/inspections, I guess. |

It kinda reminds me of the aircraft they use in the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" TV show. |

It's actually better not to blend the engines into the wing or body, because you end up with a asymmetrical wind profile, which causes turbulence and drag. By having the engines out where they do, they get better fuel mileage, the holy grail of plane designers. |

It's also a lot easier to do maintenance on them, which was a problem for the BOAC Comets. I keep expecting to see Queen Amidala in the window of that thing… |

you'd only bury the engines for a stealth job. having the engines exposed like that makes maintenance easier, gives cleaner airflow around and thru the engines, AND gives you additional noise-deadening volume if you're talking about a passenger jet. |

Also a IR missile rear hit on an engine will not damage the wing/aero surface |

And you know? I almost wonder if this means LockMart is going to build a C130-sized version as well as a C5 replacement. |
