"Hang on to your drone. Boeing's developed a laser cannon specifically designed to turn unmanned aircraft into flaming wreckage. The aerospace company's new weapon system, which it publicly tested this week in a New Mexico industrial park, isn't quite as cool as what you see in Star Wars—there's no flying beams of light, no "pew! pew!" sound effects. But it is nonetheless a working laser cannon, and it will take your drone down. People keep flying their drones where they shouldn't. In airport flight paths. Above wildfires. Onto the White House lawn. Luckily, there haven't been any really bad incidents—that is, no one has been killed by a civilian quadcopter or plane, yet…" See here link Amicalement Armand |

Well, perhaps they can work on the noise and visuals. F1 racing teams are adding in fake engine noises to their cars, apparently, so at least the "pew, pew, pew" part is pretty easy to fix. |

Cant wait til they destroy the commercial drone industry. People dont need these. No good comes from the public having these. |

How soon before I can buy one as a civvie? Means I will be able to deal with the spying neighbors without discharging a firearm inside city limits. |

Question: The USA laws allow you to shoot down a drone if it is in your property?. Amicalement Armand |

It's something of a gray area. Inside a city, it's illegal to discharge a firearm unless someone's life is in danger. but when the drone is flying over a backyard surrounded by a 6 foot tall privacy fence, well, the gentleman who shot down a drone is only in trouble for discharging a firearm. The drone operator also seems to be in trouble. |

it is a felony to fire on any aircraft. Even drones. |

@BigNickR: So why isn't the dude in Kentucky charged with anything worse than discharging a firearm inside city limits? |
