In another thread, you guys got me very interested in this different conflict of the Napoleonic era and I'm keen to add Russian and Swedish Men-o-War to my fleets now. Problem is, there is a dearth of detailed information out there. Can anybody point me in the direction of useful English references to put together some details of this conflict, its ships and Commanders? cheers and thanks in advance, Paul |

Yep, that and very similarly brief accounts were all I could find too. I'm happy to buy a few books to get the details, but haven't found any referenced or reviewed yet |

You might want to try James' 'Naval History of Great Britain', volumes 4 or 5 onwards. |

This deals with the early part of the conflict. The author is on TMP, so may add something himself: link |

For the ships themselves, the Russians have one very good book "Russian Warships in the Age of Sail, 1696-1860: Design, Construction, Careers and Fates" by Sozaev and Tredrea. For the Swedes, nothing I know of. And as for battle descriptions, maybe something in Swedish or Russian, but I've seen nothing in English. |
